    Occupation: Garage Owner

    Motorsport Career

Peter’s first venture into motorsport was with the 2 wheeled variety as he raced motorbikes for a number of years.

He then later decided to race in the hustle and bustle of Formula One stock car racing (312) with a great deal of success over the years, starting at white top level and reaching Red top level.

Peter first got involved with the XR Challenge in 2010 when his son Pete Lancaster Junior purchased the Ex Jason Hennefer Fiesta XR2 and joined the championship and Peter Senior was his mentor and engineer, within two years his son proved that he was one of the drivers to beat.

In 2012 Peter senior decided it was his turn to have a go himself, so armed with his XR2 he focused on getting used to the front wheel drive 95bhp in his Fiesta rather than the 500bhp rear wheel drive of his Formula One stock car. He also had to master right hand bends which in his Formula One stock years he never had to worry about!.

Over the years especially recently Peter has proved to be great competitive and clean racer and has the respect of all the other drivers, in the last two seasons he has always been at the sharp end of the field, and I ‘am sure we have not seen the full potential and speed that Peter can deliver.

    Motorsport Career

Greg has been surrounded round motorsport since birth really when his dad (the very well accomplished racer and Rally driver Derek Speight) passed on his passion for all things Motorsport to Greg. Greg watched him from a very early age to even having his own go-kart and motorbike to thrash around the garden to navigating on tarmac rallies to doing the odd track day.

Greg always had the urge to compete himself was always the next step. So after a long wait he decided to have a go in the XR Challenge in 2009 with a pristine XR2 which was quickly given its first look at the barriers in the snow at Mallory!

The car and driver were slowly developed over the seasons and the racing was always close and exciting, up and down the field. Results improved over the seasons and after several podiums he managed to claim my first win, at Oulton, in 2014.

Towards the end of 2015 ex-Championship winner Craig Brookfield’s XR2 became available and

Greg didn’t hesitate to make it his.

This provided instant results with victory in its first meeting at Anglesey. Having only competed in a handful of meetings each season Greg is hopeful of making it to a full seasons racing this year.

Keep your eye on Greg, he will be one of the drivers to possibly claim the title this year.

Because of Ralph’s growing Dairy farm business he didn’t find any time for motorsport but for some years he had been keeping his eye on the XR Challenge Championship, then in 2010 he decided that he must have a go and purchased an XR2. Ralph immediately proved he had the pace to be a front runner and over the years he improved with every race and it was not long before he had his first outright victory.

In 2013 Ralph finished 2nd in the XR2 championship to fellow competitor Mike Heath, Because of business commitments and Cows! Ralph only competed in 4 races in 2014 finishing in the top three positions on three occasions. In 2015, Ralph proved he was one of the drivers to beat, although he only did seven races (again every time in the top three) he finished 6th in the XR2 championship.

If Ralph manages to do a full season this year he has got to be one of the favourites for the 2016 XR Challenge championship title.

    Motorsport Career

Lee’s motorsport career started in 1985 racing Stock Cars at his local track in Barrow-in-Furness with varying success, in 1995 he decided to have a go in the XR Challenge with an XR3 which he purchased for only £100, albeit a non runner, but after some work the car proved itself by giving Lee some really good results in the 1996 and 1997 seasons.

Lee then took a very long sabbatical to raise a family, then in 2010 the XR Challenge was too much for to ignore anymore, he purchased another XR3i from Ex Championship contender Mike Hair which he totally rebuilt ready for the 2010 season, various good results came Lee’s way over the next few years with this car.

In 2013 Lee possibly had his best ever year in the XR Challenge finishing second in the championship from a very on form Adam Burgess, although Lee had some great races in 2014 he was let down by unreliability issues which didn’t help his championship aspirations.

After many hours over the winter months rebuilding his car prior to the 2015 season, Lee was hoping for a turn in fortunes and after great pre season testing he was hoping 2015 would he his year, unfortunately at the first meeting at Oulton Park he was involved through no fault of his own in a start line incident which virtually wrote his car off, although the car was repaired Lee was always on the back foot having missed races at the start of the season, Lee then decided to go for as many race wins as he could, which he did but could not manage any better than 4th place in the championship.

For 2016 Lee has managed after many attempts to purchase the Ex Chris Flynn CFT Transport XR3i built by Dave Fairclough at Automech which Lee says is “Possibly the best XR3i car ever built”.

So he has no excuses this year!.

Lee’s son will be racing in the Championship again this year in car number 57

2011 he finished 4th in the championship, then in 2012 after a great year for him he just missed out from the title and finished a great 2nd in the championship. Motorsport Career

Mike first raced in the XR Challenge championship in 1994 with an XR3i with varying levels of success. Then after a very long layoff of 20 years plus he decided in 2014 he returned again with an XR3i determined to do better!.

The 2014 season was a hard learning curve for Mike with some good results and a few incidents, but the year ended in a very creditable 3rd place in the XR3i championship class.

For the 2015 season he come out fighting with his rebuilt Escort XR3i, with an engine rebuilt by himself. It was a tough season for Mike and although he claimed the XR3i championship title he was pushed very hard throughout the year from Ryan Bowron who always seemed to be glued to his rear bumper, watching this pair throughout the year gave us some very entertaining racing both on and off the track !!, hopefully this will continue into the 2016 season.

Every motorsport championship has its comedian and Mike Taylor is ours, together with his Team Tourettes pit crew they are a very welcome addition to the XR Challenge championship.

Prior to the 2015 season Ryan spent a great deal of time fully rebuilding the car, including a colour change as well Ryan competed in all the races in 2015, and with only one non finish he finished a very creditable 2nd in the XR3i championship after some epic race long battles with fellow competitor Mike Taylor.

For the 2016 Ryan hopes to carry on where he left off and show Mike Taylor a clean pair of heels!

Steve started racing in 2012 in the XR Challenge after watching many races he got the bug. His first year was to be a big learning curve for Steve especially after he had a spectacular multiple roll at Anglesey circuit when he tried to cut the corner a little to close and hit the tyres, this did not deter him, he immediately loaded the wrecked car on to his trailer and drove back to Market Drayton and collect another XR2 race car, he duly arrived the next day and continued his racing weekend.

The 2013 and 2014 seasons brought along some reasonable results considering Steve did not compete in many races.

2015 brought along some really good results for Steve with podium finishes with a Pole position and fastest lap at the Silverstone meeting.

Watch out this year for more results coming his way, to quote Steve “Career highlights yet to be achieved”.

I learnt a lot during that time” He Built a new car for 2009 which is the car he is still using today, albeit a bit like Triggers brush.

Steve has enjoyed being part of the XR family for 10 years now and has never considered going to race elsewhere. “I'm still looking and hoping for my first championship title but I find the friendship far more important”.

    Motorsport Career

2004 was Justins first year of his motorsport career with his first XR2, with his best result being 13th in the last roud of the XR Challenge championship that year. In 2005 Justin purchased the 2004 championship winning XR2 from Mark Young, this proved the right move for Justin as he finished 2nd in the XR Challenge championship,

Late in 2005 he turned his talents to racing a Mk2 Jaguar at Magny-Cours in France after being invited by Peter Lloyd and Nigel Morris to do the V de V championship 2000 Kms race.

After only 3 races in the 2006 XR Challenge championship as he wrote off his XR2 at Mallory park when a rear stub axle broke. In 2007 with another XR2 he decided to have a go in the Tin Top championship with good success, claiming four class wins in four races plus an outright pole position at a very wet Mallory Park.

2008 brought along Justin returning to the XR Challenge with some success after competing in 10 races. Justin only managed 3 races in the 2009 season.

Justin hung up his gloves until 2013 when he was tempted to race an XR3i in the XR Challenge championship at Anglesey circuit which made him realise that an XR2 was far more suited to his driving style.  2014 and he was offered the chance to race Steve Poole’s XR2 (his employer) for a couple of races which showed he had not lost any of his speed with two very respectable outings.

The two good outings in 2014 certainly wet Justins appetite so much he went out and purchased Roger Ebdons very successful XR2 for the 2015 season, having only competed in seven races he finished 5th in the XR Challenge championship together with many top three finishes which included one outright win at Anglesey.
